Attendance
At Tower View Primary School we encourage maximum attendance from all children, but do understand that pupils can be ill. We do not authorise any holidays for any reason and these are always recorded as O as unauthorised. We do reserve the right to authorise special occasion absence eg. weddings, funerals etc. and this requires prior consultation with the headteacher.
We monitor all children's attendance daily and any non-informed absence will be dealt with by a first day call to ascertain the reason. We issue monthly letters to parents of children whose attendance is below 90% and involve the Educational Welfare Officer Vikki Cobb in appropriate discussions/ meetings penalty notice applications as necessary (every Parents' evening).
Each week we award to a class Attendance Cakes for the best overall attendance.
Each month we award to a class an Attendance Prize for the best monthly attendance.
Each 1/2 term we award 100% attendance certificates.
Each year we take all those children who have not missed a full day's education a free trip to the cinema with associated goody bag.
Attendance is a key priority for the school and we aim to raise it as high as possible and reduce persistent absence equally.
