Machines take over the latest Poetry Assembly

The school held its 7th termly Poetry Assembly today and the theme was "Machines". As normal all the children were involved either as part of thei class or their year group in performing a poem to the rest of the school in a celebration of poetry and performance. This time Mr Ridout had to choose his favourite poem and award the trophy accordingly. There were an array of poems from Year 1 class written poems "Engines" to Year 5 performing Night Mail and From a Railway Carriage as well as several train related poems "Choo Choo Train", "Song in the Train" and Little Engines. The standard was, as usual, very good and the children spoke clearly, loudly and confidently throughout, as well as listening intently and appreciating the poems of others. The class that took the trophy this time was 4AF with their animated poem Choo Choo Train and the sense of train movement and rhythm was clear to hear throughout. So well done everyone and keep enjoying reading poetry and trying different types. A big thanks to all staff again for their efforts.......it was a difficult choice to find a favourite from such an exceptional set of poetry readings.
