National Assessment Tests (SATS) for pupils

The year 6 pupils will be taking their SATs in the week beginning 13th May 2019.  The timetable is as follows:

Monday Grammar Punctuation and Spelling

Tuesday Reading

Wednesday Maths arithmetic

Thursday Maths reasoning

The tests are a benchmark of how the children are performing and are not a vital assessment that affect their future lives as many Secondary schools will do their own assessments prior to the children starting.  We will be having a breakfast club open to all pupils in year 6 starting at 8.15am every morning.  The children will, hopefully have a good night sleep and be ready for the tasks they have to complete.

In Year 2 the children will be taking some tests to help assess their progress and these will be combined with teacher assessments and the ongoing work they have completed.  The final assessment is based upon the whole information received in maths, reading and writing.  We also do the optional Grammar and spelling tests.  These tests will happen in May 2019.

In year 1 & for some year 2 children phonics testing will happen to assess their knowledge of phonics and reading skills.  This is usually marked out of a possible 40 and scores of 32 and above are viewed at reached the expected standard.

We try not to put pressure on the children or deliberately worry them as they are still young and hope parents will do likewise.
