Mrs Metcalfe retires early.
Mrs Metcalfe has decided to retire from tower View Primary School after 14 years at the school and 32 years in teaching. She has been a dedicated and well-loved member of the teaching staff for all of that time and will be a sad loss to the school. Children made many cards and gave gifts to her in a specially organised assembly on Friday 20th July and she was given a great farewell by the staff and the children. She chose songs including I have seen the Golden Sunshine as part of the assembly and took part in a game of Blockbusters against year 6 pupils. We all wish her well and hope she enjoys her holiday in Canada and beyond.
Mrs Metcalfe had been a teacher in the midlands for over 30 years teaching in Lichfield and Burton Upon Trent amongst other places. She has had senior responsibility for Key Stage 1 at Tower View and has seen the growth of the school and has been an integral part of its recent improvements. At the assembly she said "I will miss the school, but i am looking forward to a long holiday. It has been a great place to work and I've loved it; even the bad times." One child said "She's a lovely teacher and I will really miss her." There have been a lot of good wishes given to her and I'm sure she won't be shy in coming back to visit the school. All the best Lorraine.
