Sports Day Triumph for the reds!

It was a glorious day for key stage one and key stage 2 Sports' Day and we were very grateful for the lending of gazebos to the school to provide some necessary shade for everyone.

We had a great turn out and Tutbury won the Key Stage 2 cup, whilst Warwick were the winners in Key Stage 1.  Well done to everyone for their efforts.

After some consideration about whether to hold a Sports' Day or not due to the excessive heat, it was decided to hold a time-limited version for both Key Stage 1 & 2.  This meant that some races did not happen, but all children did participate in events.  The cycle of events in Key Stage 1 included throwing, running, dressing up and football dribbling. The enthusiasm was great to see and all parents joined in with their support.  But it was Warwick who triumphed overall and thoroughly deserved the victory.

In Key Stage 2 three teams were in close contest for the victory and the claiming of the cup, but the relays became decisive in the outcome and Tutbury won with a score of 110, 7 points ahead of their closest rivals.  Again support for the children was excellent and the efforts in the sunshine were admirable.

We look forward to the Inter-house football tournament on Friday and to see whether Tutbury can make it a double of sporting successes.

A big thanks to Mr Geiregger and Mrs Holford for their organising of the events.
