Wear Purple for Polio Day goes all purply!

The school had a "wear purple for polio" day on Friday 2nd February to raise both money and awareness about polio.  All the staff and children were invited to wear purple and donate something towards eradicating polio.  Helen Smart for the Rotary club gave an assembly on the campaign and how we all can help stop this devastating disease.  The children were asked questions, joined in activities and listened intently to information.

Polio is a preventable disease that in Europe has been stopped by simple easy vaccination.  We are lucky to be able to get this and the campaign is to ensure in countries like Afganistan, Nigeria and Pakistan have the same chance.  Polio is something you get and can damage muscles and bones making it hard to walk in everyday life.  We were told for every 50p the children raised Bill Gates' organisation would add £1 so as the school raised £152.40 the total amount being donated will be around £457.20..wow and well done everyone.  For more information go to https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/post-polio-syndrome/
